Liberation of Almajiri Children: The Journey
I went on Community Outreach yesterday with other Corps Members to some Rural Areas in the North to spend time with the kids and kinsmen, then offer them some relief materials. Unfortunately, our eyes met their woes.
Before now, the stories sold to us in the South gave us the mental picture of a North filled with opportunities; a North dominated with powerful Emirs, Government Appointees, and Political Office Holders who are doing the best for her people, a people deserving appreciable livelihood in “their country”.
I will try to explain the woes of a common Hausa Man without forgetting that I’m first a Nigerian, then an Akwa Ibomite.
The Plights of Hausa Children
First among the woes is significant lack of Basic Education. This anomaly is threatening. When moving through the streets and some areas in the North, beautiful and well-equipped learning facilities are spotted, and at the same time, helpless and very young children are seen roaming the streets with “Alms Plate” with no one considering who among them needs support, guidance and counselling.

The woes of these young ones started with the prosperity of the Almajiri System; they are given birth to by parents and abandoned in another Northern State with Alms Plate in the care of an “helpless” Mallam and are told to seek the knowledge of God; No mother, no father, no basic education, no guide, no house to live in, no money to survive with, and no one to talk to!
The Almajiri System
This system is mostly practised by the least educated and poor among us. They would get hold of wives they are unable to take care for, then bring children into the world just to abandon them in less than 2 years after birth. Most of the abandoned kids can’t attend secular School because their ego has been raped and demoralized by lack, stigmatization and beliefs handed them by their parents. Most who force their way through secular schools end up dropping out at JSS 3 in order to marry.
These abandoned children grow up at the mercy of the streets and end up repeating the cycle; the same mistake their parents made. They end up getting no good means of livelihood, they end up without strong dominance in business or education, except a few lucky ones. They end up surviving at the mercy of people willing to manipulate them for personal gains.
This is the most significant reason Northern Nigeria becomes so vulnerable to manipulations by some highly placed political office holders who were meant to protect them.

My Interaction with Almajiri Children
At sunset yesterday, I was relaxing on a self-hosted rock in Augie, the community that hosted me and other Corps Members, then came to me a young Almajiri whom I warmly welcomed and had him sit by my side. He was way below 10 years, but was already the leader of his Almajiri group. When he noticed I was friendly, he asked for my name using Hausa Language and I responded accordingly. I enquired to know his own too. The young “Usman” stayed at ease when I told him to come even closer to me. I held his hand and he smiled back. He then asked for my phone to “watch tv”, but I told him I only have pre-made videos of which he started viewing them. He then reached out to call his friends who were hiding close-by after ascertaining I was a safe breed. They came out looking all devastated and psychological raped. I exchanged few Hausa pleasantries with them to make them feel at ease, and had them sit all around me; some were as young as 3 years!

During our interaction, they unveiled that they were abandoned by their parents few years back and have since had no link with them. They only depend on the alms people give them for survival. They asked if I have come to stay, so I told them no. At the end of our discussion, I shared “bread” with them, hugged each of them and assured them of a brighter tomorrow. Then I advised them to keep attending school no matter how difficult it is. The least among them who was about 3 years started crying uncontrollably holding my clothes and said I should not leave them. Tears dropped from my eyes, but I had to leave.

Before this occurrence, we were able to get into their communities, invite them to come over to the location where we camped for some relief materials and body care. They came out in their hundreds. The boys got their hair shaved by our Barbers, the girls got nice hairdos. They were later given befitting showers, clothes and shoes were given to all of them, free medical check-up and treatment, and parental advice were also offered to both the young and elderly who came out.

The plight of the Common Hausa man makes me sick to the stomach. Nigerians who are not aware of these plights are not really “Nigerians”. Northerners are the most stigmatized Citizens in our dear Country. They are labelled terrorist because of killings sponsored by selfish individuals and external governments, and perpetuated by some wicked persons; killings which affect anybody so unlucky despite tribe or religion.

The way forward
Shame on any political office holder who is doing nothing to improve the lives of his people! If I had my way, I would implement orientation programmes that would greatly change the trend of events in the North and directly change people, attitude and perception. As much as there is a functional Niger Delta Development Commission, there should also be a “functional” commission to improve lives and communities in the North. If the North remains devastated, then Nigeria is doomed. If governments do not rise to sponsor a radical re-orientation programme in the North, then Nigeria is gone. Let it be recorded this day that an insider has made bare the sufferings of the people hosting him.
Northern Nigeria is doomed, and the time to act is now!

The Ibom Solar Entrepreneurship Workshop which was organised by Everyman IT Solutions last week in Eket, Akwa Ibom is the kind of programme that should receive unreserved support from the government and individuals who are interested in the growth of the renewable Energy Industry.
Participants at the Workshop were trained on how to size an efficient solar system, build functional solar energy system, build a standalone charge controller, and taught the basics of digital Marketing.

Recall that this training is coming at a time when Nigeria is plagued with epileptic power supply, and sometimes total blackout which may last up to 6 months, and sometimes years without any interest demonstrated by the government of the day to fix such fatal anomaly.
If we talk about Africa, this continent has a great potential. Africa is one of the sunniest continent in the world, 85% of African Land receives more than 2,000 kilowatt-hours of solar energy per square meter per year. Almost 70% of the population of African countries is located in the Sahara and the surrounding areas do not have access to the grid. With the help of Solar and Micro-Grid technologies, an energy revolution can happen in Nigeria. Solar energy will help us reduce dependence on traditional dams and increase the share of renewable energy sources in our energy mix.
In Western Nations, their economy is booming because of steady power supply. Industries prosper because of this too. Companies are birthed because of steady power supply, and youths stay off crime because with steady power supply, they can get their enterprise running even from their kitchen.

Even amidst the “DISCO Conspiracy”, the Chairman of Everyman IT Solutions, Mr. Bright Aniekan has taken to the forefront to equip vision-loaded youths with saleable Green Energy skills. This is an important aspect of development that has failed to win the sympathy and patronage of the Nigerian Government since our “self-acclaimed” independence from the Bristish Colonial Masters.
Shame on any Government that can not guarantee steady and affordable power supply in a Country where common citizens who have already been torn by indirect taxation, multiple taxation and insane VAT on all transactions are hunted by “yellow-coated” tax collection officers.
The Solar Entrepreneurship Workshop which is ignored by the government of the day has a yearly rotational fixture in Uyo, Ikot Ekpene and Eket. The last time I spoke with Bright, he expressed his readiness to move to other parts of the state in order to train and create awareness on the installation, usage and maintenance of functional Solar Systems.
Instead of our Government ignoring the supremacy of Solar Energy over our Traditional Dams, pace setters like Everyman IT Solutions should be engaged and funded to deliver better and reliable electricity to our Communities. Instead of propagating what seems to be a conspiracy between the Government and DISCOs, our Leaders should wake up to the reality in the energy Industry. There is no limit to the energy we can generate from the sun.
What’s Nigeria doing with her “Solar Prosperity”? Is she the “Giant of Africa” only in the news? Kenya, Morocco, Rwanda, South Africa and Algeria have taken the lead in Solar Technologies in Africa – The Government of Nigeria should emulate the good example.

Few hours ago, a vacation Judge of the Federal High Court, Abuja, Justice Nkeoye Maha issued an order, declaring the activities of Shia Islam (Shiites) in any part of Nigeria as “Acts of terrorism and Illegality”.
Recall that, Shiites’ Leader and Founder of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria was arrested in December 2015, and has been in detention till date. Despite Court Verdicts ordering his release, the Federal Government has cited security concerns as reasons Ibrahim Yaqoub El Zakzaky cannot be released.
What is more to this?
Earlier this week, Hundreds of Armed Shiites Loyalist stormed the streets of Abuja in violent protest, and killed a Deputy Police Commissioner, DCP Umar, who was in charge of Operations at the Federal Capital Territory Police Command. A Channels TV Reporter was also killed in the violent engagement.
Fuck Shiites and El Zakzaky?
As you read this, Shiites have committed the act of treason by creating a parallel Government in Nigeria. They have an organized Government and Military. Their Caliphate has grown stronger especially with the incarceration of their Leader.
Shia Islam is one of the two main branches of Islam. It holds that the Islamic Prophet Muhammad designated Ali ibn Abi Talib as his successor and the Imam (leader) after him, most notably at the event of Ghadir Khumm, but was prevented from the caliphate. This view primarily contrasts with that of Sunni Islam (where President Buhari belongs), whose adherents believe that Muhammad did not appoint a successor and consider Abu Bakr, who they claim was appointed caliph by a small group of Muslims at Saqifah, to be the first rightful caliph after the Prophet.
El Zakzaky believes that the establishment of a Republic along similar Religious lines in Nigeria must be achieved by fire and by force. The Government of the day is aware of this plan, and will risk anything to have El Zakzaky rot in jail.
Iranian Government Involvement
Few days back, the Iranian Government called on the Federal Government of Nigeria to send El Zakzaky to Iran for Medical treatment. Just so you know, Iran is the World’s Leading State Sponsor of Global Terrorism. This revelation was made by the U.S. Department of State. Sadly, Iran has held this dubious and disgusting distinction for so many years now, and shows no sign of relinquishing the title.
What will happen if El Zakzaky goes to Iran?
He will either remain a Global Terrorism Remote in Iran, or come back to Nigeria with Biological Grenades in his Intestine. Period.
El Zakzaky and his deadly Shiites group will be worse than Boko Haram if allowed to thrive.
Why Mention Boko Haram?

Mohammed Yusuf founded the sect that became known as Boko Haram in 2002 in Maiduguri, the capital of the north-eastern state of Borno. He established a religious complex and school that attracted poor Muslim families from across Nigeria and neighbouring Countries. The center had the political goal of “creating an Islamic state”, and became a recruitment ground for Jihadists. By denouncing the police and state corruption, Yusuf attracted followers from unemployed youths. He is reported to have used the existing infrastructure in Borno of the Izala Society, a popular conservative Islamic sect to recruit members, before breaking away to form his own faction. The Izala were originally welcomed into government, along with people sympathetic to Yusuf.

Boko Haram conducted its operations more or less peacefully during the first seven years of its existence, withdrawing from society into remote north-eastern areas.
The government repeatedly ignored warnings about the increasingly militant character of the organization. The Council of Ulama advised the government and the Nigerian Television Authority not to broadcast Yusuf’s preaching, but their warnings were ignored. Yusuf’s arrest elevated him to Hero Status. Borno’s Deputy Governor Alhaji Dibal has reportedly claimed that al-Qaeda had ties with Boko Haram, but broke them when they decided that Yusuf was an unreliable person. Stephen Davis, a former Anglican Clergyman who has negotiated with Boko Haram many times blames Local Nigerian Politicians who support local bandits like Boko Haram in order for them to make life difficult for their political opponents.
In particular, Davis has blamed the former governor of Borno State Ali Modu Sheriff, who initially supported Boko Haram, but no longer needed them after the 2007 elections and stopped funding them. Sheriff denies the accusations.
Boko Haram’s attacks consist of suicide bombers as well as conventional armed assaults on both civilian and military targets. Following the 2014 kidnapping, a majority of Boko Haram’s suicide bombers are female; some are as young as seven years old. Boko Haram Jihadists rely on stealth blend into local communities, or hiding in the vast countryside. Critics accuse the Nigerian military of not properly equipping its soldiers to fight Boko Haram
What should the Federal Government of Nigeria do?
Go to war. Period. Shiites Followers have poisoned minds and brains. They are like the Zombies on a lonely desert; all they’ve got to offer are blood-thirsty claws. Release their Leader, and their morale is boosted. Keep detaining their Leader in their watchful eyes, and they will bring War to Nigeria. Today is 27th July, 2019, mark my words.
Those agitating for the release of El Zakzaky are shameless hypocrites. El Zakzaky is a touch-sensitive time-bomb, and should be kept away from where humans live. He is planting time-bombs among humans, and should be sent to Hades.
The more you detain him, the more you give Iran and her counterparts enough time to plan a deadly invasion.
The group has been proscribed, and adherents who are still holding on to the deadly believes and practices should be treated as Terrorists!
